IPHONE VIRAL VIDEO STRAIGHT OUT OF ‘MINORITY REPORT’

This is a fascinating video made by Dreamfield, a video post-production outfit based in Sweden. In Dreamfield’s words: “We created quite a buzz in the blogosphere... most people were convinced it was a fake, a spoof. And of course they were right... shooting was deliberately poor so that more people would believe it was computer geeks only, and not film effects people”.

Fact is that Dreamfield are only ‘slightly ahead of our time’ with this. From the prescient technology envisaged in Minority Report to full-on touch screens in our homes is just a matter of time.

Already smartphones like Apple’s iPhone are blending technologies - the iPhone is really a mini-computer that happens to make calls as well. And with 50,000-plus mini-apps, an on-board video camera that uploads to YouTube, there’s not a lot you can’t do with it.

Even now, it's possible to make the call: "Beam me up Scotty" - it's just a pity we haven't yet got the starships to match. But one day...

Visit Apple here, and Dreamfield here.
