MATT LEBLANC’S BUBBLE FIGHTER FROM 'LOST IN SPACE' MOVIE

Here’s a nice little something for sci-fi modellers, in the form of a 1:48 scale (1 in = 4 ft) Bubble Fighter from Lost in Space, a 1998 movie based loosely on the classic 1960s TV series. Like most of the movie’s cgi effects, the Bubble Fighter (named for its spherical cockpit) is nicely designed, though it features only briefly at the beginning, as Major Don West (Matt LeBlanc) battles sky-borne 21st century terrorists. The craft should be available sometime this month from the US company, Fantastic Plastic.

As a movie, Lost in Space was not so hot - on the upside, it was packed with excellent hardware designs, but the downside was a lamentable script. Matt LeBlanc should probably have stayed with Friends, but he did have some nice lines, including this minor classic, when faced with a horde of spider-like critters: “A million bucks worth of weaponry...and I'd trade it all back...for a lousy can of Raid."

Also times - and future shock scares - change according to fads, fashions, and changing concerns. Among the reasons given for the mission of the Jupiter-2 spacecraft, seen launching in the video clip below, was: “The ozone layer is at 40 percent”...

Has anyone got some fresh ideas for the main eco-horror-doom catastrophe facing Planet Earth in the year 2020?
